What wedding blog would be complete without the standard “how we met” story?
It all started with a game….and a truly romantic email which I still have since I’m the top space user on the company’s email server. Here it is in all its glory:
“Check this:
Not the most mind-wracking game online, but addictive….plus you look like you are doing work ![]()

-Rick”
He wooed me right from the start!
Rick and I sat across the room from each other but our desks were positioned in such a way that we were never out of each other’s line of vision. Therefore, we had lots of exchanges like that one. Rick did stop suggesting games when he realized that I would beat him handily at every one.
After a few months of trading witty comments and generally trying to impress each other nonstop (i.e., flirting), we were fast friends. When Rick finally called one day to ask me out to the movies, I accepted, despite having witnessed his hat-throwing antics during numerous televised USC football games.
We became pretty much inseparable after that first official date (a trip to Columbia to watch Red Dragon). Our relationship was “outed” in the newsroom on election night and we’ve been a part of Item love lore ever since!
BTW, you can play a version of the famous game here.
Hey! I’ll have you know, I don’t throw hats during football games anymore, thank you very much.
I throw visors now. They really cover some distance when you really fling them after giving up a 3rd-and-forever to Tim Tebow.
Hey guys! How cool that you have a wedding blog. I love the “love at first email” story.
Rick, thanks for putting Greg up for the week – we really appreciate it! It sounds like ya’ll have been having a lot of fun living up the bachelor life (or for Greg, re-living it).
What a neat story – I never knew the details! Love your wedding blog!

Fantastic blog…also enjoyed finding out some details of “the early years.”
Ahh yes, “the early years.” Still waiting for the “greatest hits,” the “unplugged” blog, the “essential” compilation featuring an extra page of rare blog entries, the boxed set of unreleased demos, rarities and bootleg blogs, and the companion “sampler” blog to go with that.
I’m sure these will all be out in time for xmas giving?
Congrats, guys!
